Dental Implants Can Offer a Lifetime of Support for Restorations
Dental Implant Procedure
Dr. Andrew R. Samuel uses an innovative, computer-guided method to place dental implants. We will first create a personalized surgical plan using x-rays, cone beam scans, and our SIMPLANT® software. Your surgery will be performed in our advanced treatment room, and we take extra steps to sterilize the area and equipment for your safety. Unlike most practices, we have a board-certified anesthesiologist who can provide intravenous (IV) sedation to keep you at ease. During the dental implant procedure, Dr. Samuel will place tiny metal posts into the jaw to serve as artificial tooth roots. Thanks to our advanced technology, we can even provide same-day restorations in some cases.
Types of Dental Implants
Dr. Samuel offers several types of dental implants by the finest manufacturers whose products are backed by university and practice-based research in order to meet the diverse needs of his patients. He utilizes tapered, straight, short, narrow and wide implants by Biomet 3i™, Straumann®, Nobel Biocare™, Zimmer and DENTSPLY. In addition several systems can be used for "immediate" implants which can sometimes support a restoration on the same day as implant placement. If you will be receiving a full-arch denture, Dr. Samuel can often support this restoration with only four dental implants by using the innovative All-on-4® technique.
Bone Grafting
In order to receive dental implants, patients must have a sufficient amount of healthy jawbone density. However, since the jawbone naturally begins to recede after tooth loss, many dental implant candidates will find they do not qualify. In these cases, Dr. Samuel may be able to perform bone grafting procedure to restore necessary strength to the jaw. During a bone grafting procedure, Dr. Samuel will place healthy bone or a substitute material over recessed areas to promote new growth. In addition, Dr. Samuel can also perform a sinus lift, which involves restoring lost bone tissue in the upper jaw and repositioning the sinus membrane to create room for implants.
Cost of Dental Implants
Undergoing a dental implant treatment with Dr. Samuel is a highly personalized process, and many factors and decisions can affect the total cost. Most notably, costs are affected by the type and number of implants being received and your choice of restoration. The need for a preparatory bone graft will also affect costs. When planning your treatment, rest assured that Dr. Samuel will always make recommendations that are in your best interest. Furthermore, we offer several financing options to help you afford treatment.
Benefits of Dental Implants
Dental implants are widely considered to be the best treatment for patients with missing teeth because of the unparalleled benefits they offer. By supporting your crown, bridge, or denture with artificial tooth roots — rather than clasps or dental adhesives — you can eat, speak, and smile with the full confidence of knowing that your restoration will not move out of position. Additionally, dental implants also provide a unique benefit to a patient's oral health. Since dental implants fuse directly with the jawbone, they help to return proper stimulation to the area and halt jawbone recession.
